About us

Family-owned in Austin since 2005. Never franchised.

There is no call center, no regional office, and nobody working on commission between you and the crew. The owner who prices your house is the one who runs the job and answers the phone when you have a question about it.

How we are set up

The promises, and what is behind each one

The owner quotes it. The owner runs it.

No middle-men, no outside estimators, no part-time sales people. An owner walks your home, writes the estimate, and supervises the project start to finish.

The price is the price.

Your contract names the exact products and materials, with no hidden costs. That number is honored from the first day to the final invoice — we do not re-price a job at the end.

A trained foreman on site every day.

Every crew has a foreman trained by Tex Painting, and that foreman is on your job — not running it by phone from somewhere across town.

Three-year written warranty.

A Limited Three Year Warranty of Quality — 36 months — covering peeling, blistering or chipping caused by our workmanship.

Prep is the job.

Power wash, scrape the failing paint, feather-sand it smooth, seal with 40-year caulk, prime every spot of bare wood. Paint only covers what prep fixes.

Family-owned and fully insured.

Locally owned in Austin since 2005 and never nationally franchised. Fully insured — plenty of contractors cut that corner to quote lower. We do not.

The process

What working with us actually looks like

01

Free estimate at your home

About 45 minutes. We walk every surface with you, talk through what needs repair before it needs paint, and leave you a written price that names the products going on your house.

02

Pick your colors

Color consultation with Sherwin-Williams products. Take the fan deck around the house and look at your samples in real Austin daylight — change your mind before the first coat, not after.

03

Prep, then paint

The foreman is on site each day. Power wash, scrape, sand, caulk and prime come before anything gets its finish coat, and the site gets cleaned up every night.

04

Walk it together

We walk the finished job with you and tape anything that is not right so the crew can fix it. Most Austin projects finish in about three days; small jobs take one, large exteriors up to seven.

Our guarantee

Limited Three Year Warranty of Quality

For 36 months from the day we finish, Tex Painting will repair peeling, blistering or chipping paint that resulted from defective workmanship. Repairs are made to the specific areas where that has happened.

What it does not cover

  • Ordinary wear and tear.
  • Damage from moisture, chemicals or cleaning agents.
  • Failure caused by paint layers that were already on the house.
  • Structural defects, settling or movement.
  • Decks, gutters, railings and other horizontal surfaces.
  • Weather, fire, flood and anything else outside a contractor's control.

To make a claim, keep your original contract and proof of payment, and have the contract paid in full. Materials for the repair are the homeowner's cost, and we will need access to the property. Call (512) 298-2050 and we will schedule it.

Price commitment

The number does not move

Your contract names the exact products and materials for your job. There are no hidden costs, and the price is honored from start to finish — we do not re-price at completion. If you approve a change mid-project, you approve the cost of it first.

Insurance

Fully insured, and happy to prove it

Texas does not license residential painting contractors, which is exactly why some bids come in so low. Ask us — or anyone else you are considering — for a certificate of insurance before you sign.

Reviews from around the metro

Tex Painting did an excellent job painting my exterior home in Cedar Park. I had several other painting contractors come to my home, only 3 out of 7 actually submitted a quote. Scott Miller with Tex Painting gave me a quote on the spot, which I really appreciated. They were not the cheapest quote I received but not even close to being the most expensive. The crew that painted my house was top notch, even patiently awaited my last minute color change. I could not be more pleased with the outcome. I actually feel proud to come home. I highly recommend!

Tex Painting just repaired and painted my home’s exterior. If I had known it could look that good at such a decent price, I would have done this much earlier. They were considerably lower than the two other quotes I had, mainly because they recommended low-cost fixes instead of major replacements. They responded promptly to my request for a quote and were able to start a week later. The job went right on schedule, everybody was very nice, and the work looks great. The painter did a meticulous job. He went around the house checking for any problems, tagging them and fixing them. I will definitely use them again.

All we had to do was meet with Tex Painting, get a quote, and then schedule the job. Everyone that I met with was extremely professional and great to work with, and they finished our entire interior in less than 2 days and did a fantastic job. We had gotten several quotes and found that their price was fair and the quality was excellent. We’re very pleased with the experience (which can sometimes be a nightmare) and the job that they did. I’d highly recommend Tex Painting!

Straight answers

Questions homeowners ask us

How much does it cost to paint a house in Austin?

Price comes down to square footage, the condition of the surfaces, what they are made of (siding, stucco, brick, Hardie), and how many colors you want. That is why the estimate happens at your house instead of over the phone: an owner walks every surface, writes down the exact products and materials, and gives you a fixed price. Whatever the contract says is what you pay at the end — Tex Painting does not re-price a job on completion.

How long does a paint job take?

The average Tex Painting project in Austin takes about three days. A small job can be finished in one day, and a large exterior can run up to seven. Surface condition, how much repair work is needed, and weather on exterior jobs are what move the number.

How long does exterior paint last in Austin?

Most exterior paint jobs in the Austin area last about five to seven years. Sun exposure, the quality of the paint, how well the surface was prepped, and whether the house gets washed occasionally all change that. A properly prepped and primed surface is the single biggest factor.

Do you paint kitchen cabinets, or only walls?

Both. Cabinets get degreased first, hardware removed or taped off, then a bonding clear primer — the step most painters skip — followed by two coats of a customized stain-glaze and one or two varnish coats.

Are you licensed and insured?

Tex Painting is fully insured. Texas does not license residential painting contractors, so insurance is the thing to actually ask about — and plenty of contractors quote lower precisely because they carry none. Ask any painter you are considering for a certificate of insurance.

What does the warranty cover?

A Limited Three Year Warranty of Quality: for 36 months after completion, Tex Painting repairs peeling, blistering or chipping paint that resulted from defective workmanship. It does not cover ordinary wear and tear, damage from moisture or structural movement, or horizontal surfaces such as decks and railings.

Do you use your own crews or subcontractors?

Crews work under a foreman trained by Tex Painting, and that foreman is present at the job site. An owner writes the estimate and supervises the project — the company does not use outside estimators or commissioned sales people.

What paint do you use?

Sherwin-Williams. The specific line and sheen are written into your contract before work starts, so you know exactly what is going on your walls rather than finding out afterward.
